Job Description

Salary: £54,878 - £64,562 depending on skills and experience.

About the role: 

This role is responsible for providing a range of advisory and analytical services covering all aspects of Occupational Health & Wellbeing to support general business operations and programme in order to contribute to the effective delivery of Occupational Health and Wellbeing Services aligned to the overall HS2 Ltd Occupational Health objectives.  

As a Senior Occupational Health and Wellbeing Manager at HS2 you will be responsible for: 

Accountabilities:

  • Undertake contractor prequalification and tender evaluations as part of the procurement process with follow on of continuous monitoring of supply chain performance.
  • Develop, support and implement a strategy for Occupational Health and Wellbeing that meets the business objectives, and works in collaboration with the wider people functions by incorporating strategies of primary prevention and early intervention of adverse health effects.
  • Work in partnership at senior level with other appropriate agencies and professionals to provide expert guidance, develop, implement and evaluate policies and strategies, when an Occupational Health input is required.
  • Evaluating annually the effectiveness of the Occupational Health & Wellbeing service its interventions and benefits through self-auditing procedures.  
  • Collect, record and interpret Occupational Health data so regular feedback is provided back to the business and supply chain in order to drive performance.
  • Lead, implement and report on Occupational Health assurance within the supply chain.
  • Appraise policies and recommend changes to prevent ill health and improve health outcomes.
  • Lead the development of Occupational Health standards and act as an expert in the development of policies where input is required.
  • Support Occupational Health forums within supply chain as well as HS2  employees forums for example health & wellbeing & mental health first aiders.

About You: 

Skills:

  • Registered General Nurse (degree or similar) with Occupational Health.
  • Qualification (Qualified to Masters or Degree Level) or BSc in Community Nursing (OH) with specialist practitioner status (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse) recorded by the NMC are essential.
  • Project management  
  • Data compilation, integration, analysis and presentation
  • Financial budgeting  
  • Negotiating, influencing and interpersonal communication skills with the sensitivity to provide support across a variety of situations.   
  • Manage ‘upwards’ as the subject matter expert as well as ‘downwards’.
  • Proficient in producing, drafting and presenting documents/modes of communications for a variety of audiences.  
  • Produce and analyse Occupational Health & Wellbeing data.  
  • Strategic mindset bringing new ideas to help improve the health and wellbeing service.
  • Training skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and support a team of health & safety and Project team professionals around health risk management and health assurance.   
  • Networking with other Occupational Health to discuss professional issues and benchmarking to ensure a high standard of service provision. 

Knowledge:

  • Occupational Health & Wellbeing knowledge including up to date knowledge of applicable legislation, best practice principles and regulatory requirements.  
  • Knowledge of the administration, policies and procedures in relation to occupational health and wellbeing requirements, conditions of service.

Experience:

  • Experience in managing Occupational Health & Wellbeing services on a major project or programme  
  • Managerial Experience in an Occupational Health setting
  • Experience of undertaking assurance of third parties and supply chain.
  • Experience of implementing Occupational Health & Wellbeing strategy
