Description & Requirements

On behalf of The Ministry of Justice, we are looking for a Resourcing Support Officer- (Inside IR35) for a 6-month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 2 days attendance in the Leeds or London office. Travel will be required which will be expensed .


The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) priorities include improving public safety and reducing reoffending by reforming prisons, probation and youth justice, and building a justice system which makes access to justice swifter and more certain for all citizens whatever their background. Project professionals in the MoJ help to improve the government’s ability to protect the public and reduce reoffending, and to provide a more effective, transparent and responsive criminal justice system for victims and the public.

This role provides a unique opportunity to support delivery of the Secretary of State’s priorities as part of the MoJ Project Delivery Function. The Function oversees the centralisation and coordination of project delivery across the department. The role will be part of the Project Delivery Function’s Management Office (PDFMO), supporting the management of high levels of interest and demand from across the department for Project Delivery Professionals. As the Resourcing Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the PD Function’s objective of successfully resourcing the Department’s large portfolio of projects and programmes with highly skilled Project Delivery Professionals. You will be required to build a comprehensive knowledge of specific pressures and complexities associated with projects and programmes.


You will provide a pivotal link between the Function and MoJ business areas, representing the PDFMO to help ensure we have the right people, with the right skills, in the right locations and available at the right time. As Resourcing Support Officer, you will support the PD Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Function’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and wider Project Delivery Function professionals through the different aspects of your role. This is a fast-paced and challenging role that requires a proactive approach, the ability to anticipate requirements and confidence working autonomously.


As Resourcing Support Officer, you will have a key role in the smooth running of PDFMO recruitment, allocation and overall resourcing activity. You will manage a wide range of tasks that are often urgent, complex and sensitive. You must therefore build a sound knowledge of the business, remain adaptable and calm under pressure, and handle issues with diplomacy and discretion. You will also need to identify and manage potential risks, knowing when to tackle issues directly and when to escalate to the COO, Head of Resourcing and, where appropriate, the SLT.


You will be expected to work effectively with senior colleagues and across the wider Civil Service. The role offers the opportunity to build relationships, develop briefing skills using a range of communication styles, and increase your understanding of senior decision-making. You will need to develop excellent working relationships with senior stakeholders and core teams within the Function’s structure.

Process – Maintain applicant and employee confidentiality in accordance with MoJ data protection policies. Support the recruitment process by managing campaigns on Avature, maintaining records of successful candidates and tracking progress through to induction. Support timely recruitment and onboarding of Project Delivery Function resources, ensuring recruitment and day-to-day management processes align with MoJ corporate policy and procedure and are as efficient as possible.


Recruitment and resource management Support and guide candidates and panel members through selection processes for recruitment campaigns. Provide recruitment coordination and administrative support, including diary management, logistics, room bookings, use of applicant tracking systems, and updates to relevant systems and spreadsheets.


Stakeholder management – Build and maintain productive relationships with potential candidates throughout the PDF recruitment process. Build internal relationships with stakeholders across organisational boundaries to deliver outcomes, including line and assignment managers, single points of contact within business areas, and Project Delivery Function members.


Risks and issues – Identify and escalate risks and issues that may affect the success of a campaign, the induction of a candidate or the successful placement of a Project Delivery professional. Identify and escalate risks relating to the day-to-day management and support of PDFMO work and relationships, including supporting and maintaining corporate risk and issue logs.


Guidance and support – Seek appropriate support, guidance and coaching from the PDFMO senior team. Act as a reliable source of information and advice on recruitment practice and BAU processes, providing excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Support the development and review of guidance documents to assist with continuous improvement of the services provided by the PDF.

Experience of supporting recruitment or workforce processes, tracking and tools.

Experience of organising teams, establishing processes and working to deadlines.

Able to use Microsoft Office tools.
