Description & Requirements
On behalf of the Met Office, we are looking for a Senior Project Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract based in Exeter.
As a Senior Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Lead and deliver projects to achieve agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, governance, and effective management controls for the project and team.
- Define project structure, organisation, and delivery methodologies, ensuring smooth transitions between phases.
- Manage project budgets, finalising costs and tracking delivery to remain within financial targets.
- Identify resource and skill requirements, deploy and develop team members, and manage a medium-sized team.
- Build and manage stakeholder relationships, while proactively identifying, mitigating, and escalating risks and issues.
Essential:
- A demonstrable track record of successful project delivery, ideally supported by PMQ, PRINCE2 and/or PRINCE2 Agile qualifications.
- Experience of successful contract management with external supplier organisations.
- Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including external partners such as suppliers, academia and public sector bodies.
- Experience of working within a technology and/or science environment, preferably related to large-scale scientific computing.
- Experience of working within a large-scale programme comprising multidisciplinary teams.
- SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
