About the Role
Great British Energy is looking for a Director of Local Energy Platform to join our GBE Local Directorate Team. This role will play a key part in contributing to projects, objectives, and wider organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Set the vision, strategy and roadmap for the Local Energy Platform, aligning to GBE Local objectives, customer needs and organisational priorities
- Lead end-to-end delivery of the Platform (discovery, design, build, launch and continuous improvement), ensuring a high-quality, accessible and secure service for users
- Own the customer journey from project initiation to delivery across the Platform, working with other Directors and the Local MD to remove friction and provide clear pathways for customers
- Develop and deliver the Platform services that enable customers to construct and deliver renewable energy projects, including access to qualified supply chain partners and installers
- Define and implement a partner and marketplace approach, including onboarding standards, due diligence, performance management and customer feedback loops for suppliers and installers
- Work with commercial, legal and product colleagues to design and operationalise route-to-market products (e.g., PPAs and other contract structures) and ensure they are available and usable via the Platform
- Establish governance, KPIs and reporting for Platform performance (adoption, conversion, time-to-delivery, customer satisfaction, cost and value for money), using insights to drive improvement
- Ensure effective integration with delivery partners, internal operational teams and data systems so projects can be progressed reliably from enquiry through feasibility, procurement, installation and commissioning
- Champion user research, service design and inclusive practice, ensuring the Platform meets the needs of diverse customer groups and is compliant with relevant standards and policy
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary team and supplier base (product, delivery, design, engineering/technology, operations and commercial), promoting a high-performance, mission-led culture
Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Senior leadership experience delivering digital products, platforms or customer portals, with accountability for outcomes, budgets and benefits realisation
- Demonstrable understanding of renewable energy project development and delivery, including key stakeholders, risks and typical delivery pathways (feasibility, procurement, installation, commissioning)
- Experience building and managing partner ecosystems and/or marketplaces (e.g., supply chain networks, installer frameworks), including assurance, onboarding and performance management
- Strong commercial capability, with experience shaping and delivering customer propositions and route-to-market mechanisms (including contracting and risk allocation; experience of PPAs is highly relevant)
- Proven ability to design and improve end-to-end customer journeys, applying user-centred and service design approaches to deliver measurable improvements
- Strong analytical and performance management skills, able to define KPIs, use data/insight to prioritise work, and maintain effective governance and risk management
- Excellent stakeholder management, able to work collaboratively across senior leaders to align strategy and delivery, and to influence partners and customers
- Demonstrated people leadership—building, motivating and developing multi-disciplinary teams and suppliers to deliver at pace and to high standards
Desirable:
- Experience working within or alongside government, public sector, regulated energy environments or publicly funded programmes
- Knowledge of low-carbon heat, power and flexibility solutions (e.g., solar, wind, storage, heat networks, EV infrastructure) and their delivery models
- Experience of procurement and contracting for frameworks and partner delivery (including assurance, SLAs and continuous improvement)
- Familiarity with digital service standards, accessibility and data protection requirements, and with integrating platforms into wider organisational systems
