Job Title: Commercial Manager (Onshore Development)

Location: Aberdeen or Edinburgh 

Reporting to: Director of Business Development and Investment (pending appointment of the Onshore / Offshore Managing Director)

About the Role

Great British Energy is looking for a Commercial Manager to join our onshore development department.  This role will play a key part in contributing to projects, objectives, and wider organisational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy for renewable energy projects from pre-FID through construction
  • Working with the Project and Investment teams, support investment cases, FID packs, and project approvals with robust commercial input
  • Ensure adherence to internal commercial governance, delegation of authority, and assurance requirements
  • Lead Commercial sections of the Project Gate reviews

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in commercial management, quantity surveying, or project controls
  • Background in renewable energy, utilities, infrastructure, or major capital projects
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, Law, similar

Desirable:

  • Professional membership (e.g. RICS, CIPS, CIMA, CIArb, CICES)
  • Postgraduate qualification in construction law, project management, or commercial management
