On behalf of the Bank of England, we are looking for a Employee Relations Advisor (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based in London or Leeds 2-3 a week (50%) in the office per month.

The Employee Relations Advisor will act as a trusted partner to managers across the organisation, providing expert guidance on a wide range of employee relations (ER) matters. This role will support the business in resolving complex people issues, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes while building strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
As an Employees Relationship Advisor, your main responsibilities will be:
- Develop strong, collaborative relationships with managers at all levels—including Executive Director level—and act as a key point of contact for all employee relations queries.
- Provide professional ER advice and coaching to enable confident and effective case management.
- Manage and prioritise a varied and often complex caseload, including disciplinary, grievance, ill health, performance, and other ER issues.
- Support and guide managers and employees through formal consultation and redundancy processes.
- Develop practical and legally sound solutions to complex ER challenges. Balance policy requirements with operational realities to achieve fair and effective outcomes.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of employment law developments and best practice. Communicate changes clearly and advise managers on necessary proactive steps to mitigate risk.
- Work closely with internal legal counsel to present cases clearly and accurately, ensuring risks are identified, assessed, and minimised.
Essential:
- Proven experience in an Employee Relations Advisor role, managing a varied caseload including grievance, disciplinary, performance, and ill‑health cases.
- Strong analytical and decision‑making skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and assess organisational risk.
- Ability to work effectively with internal legal counsel and present ER cases clearly and accurately.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, producing clear, accurate, and legally robust documentation.
- High personal resilience, with the ability to handle sensitive cases confidentially and build rapport with managers and employees.
Desirable:
- CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above preferred).
- Experience working within a unionised environment.
- Previous experience supporting redundancy, TUPE, and consultation processes.
- Qualified mediator or formal mediation training.
