AMS PSR

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Fire Engineer for a 12 month (Inside IR35) hybrid contract based in either Birmingham, Blackpool, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield.

As a Fire Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:

• To apply fire engineering principles to complex buildings and fire scenarios to develop compliant and proportionate fire strategies
• To resolve complex fire safety issues involving means of escape, compartmentation and occupancy risk
• To review and where required challenge fire engineering concepts proposed by designers, architects and other Fire Engineers.
• To lead regulatory discussions with Building Control and Fire Authorities to seek design solutions for a range of projects active within the DWP estate 
• Providing support to the DWP Estates Team on fire safety and compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 across its estate.
• Assisting in the review, development and communication of overarching fire policy and guidance across the estate.

Essential:

• A degree in Fire Engineering.
• Demonstrable experience within the fire industry.
• Knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
• Knowledge of and experience in carrying out or reviewing Fire Risk Assessments.
• Experience of conducting on site surveys of fire safety arrangements and passive fire protection measures.
• A working knowledge of BS 5839 and the requirements of this standard.
