On behalf of Government Legal Department (GLD), we are looking for a Programme Director (Inside IR35) for a 2 Year contract based in London, Bristol, Croydon, Leeds, Manchester (if not London-based weekly visits to the London HQ will be required) - 3 days per week on site

As a Programme Director, your main responsibilities will be:

• Lead and manage the full LPM Programme (Contentious, Non‑Contentious, Technology, PM Teams and PMO), resourcing it with a skilled, high‑performing delivery team.
• Finalise, secure approval for, and deliver against the LPM Final Business Case, maximising expected benefits.
• Build strong stakeholder relationships with regular, broad communication and engagement.
• Develop, gain approval for, and execute the Beta Phase plan, covering development, testing, operational readiness, and business change.
• Coordinate end‑to‑end delivery, ensuring robust workflows, technology interfaces, and effective risk identification, mitigation and control.
• Manage programme governance, including budget oversight, MI reporting to senior committees, compliance auditing, post‑implementation reviews, and supporting GLD project management methodology.
• Ensure full compliance with Government Functional and GDS Standards while fostering collaborative, cross‑functional delivery with GLD teams—particularly Digital, Data and Technology—to achieve high‑quality outcomes.

Essential:

• Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering large scale transformation programmes incorporating delivery of new technology services
• Successful completion of Government Project Delivery assurance gates
• Successful completion of Government Digital Service (GDS) service assessments
• APM, MSP or Prince 2 qualification

Desirable:

• Experience of working with and delivering Legal Practice Management Systems
• Experience of delivering case management systems
