On behalf of The Insolvency Service, we are looking for a Senior Content Designer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based hybrid 60% in office in any of the following locations; Manchester, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Cardiff, Stratford – London, Croydon, Exeter, Ipswich, Birmingham or Edinburgh.
The Insolvency Service is embarking on an exciting transformation to deliver a modern, user-focused digital workspace (intranet) that enhances the way our colleagues access information and services they need to effectively carry out their role every day.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Senior Content Designer to play a pivotal role in shaping the content strategy and helping to deliver a solution that is accessible to all and directly addresses real user needs.
This is a unique opportunity to rethink the way the organisation structures and designs its intranet content. You will lead an audit of existing content and put systems in place to ensure that good content becomes the norm in the future.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders to shape the digital experience for hundreds of colleagues across the organisation, ensuring they have seamless access to the tools and information they need to deliver excellent public services.
As a Senior Content Designer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Produce a new set of intranet content principles to set the standard for all published content.
- Conduct a comprehensive audit of current intranet content against the new content strategy and content principles.
- Collaborate with the User Research Lead to translate user needs into a clear, intuitive, and user-centred information architecture and navigation structure.
- Lead the design and implementation of a new content strategy aligned to organisational goals and user requirements.
- Collaborate with IT, HR, Communications, and operational teams and other subject matter experts to create, curate, rewrite, and migrate content.
- Liaise with information owners to ensure new and revised content remains factually correct and effectively serves the users’ needs.
- Work with the Communications and Engagement Lead to train and mentor content contributors to maintain high-quality, up-to-date intranet content.
- Support development of content governance processes and guidance to ensure consistency, accessibility, and quality.
- Ensure that all work is carried out to the required deadlines.
Essential:
- Experience of designing and implementing content strategies and evaluating their impact, within government or at another large organisation
- Experience of conducting content audits, migrating content and developing user-centred information architecture.
- Strong understanding of user-centred design and government accessibility standards, with experience of user testing.
- Excellent writing, editing, and digital content production skills and an ability to present complex information in consistent, accessible and scannable formats.
- Experience of leading strategic content improvement projects
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience of using web analytics tools and other user data to inform decisions and assess content performance.
