Description & Requirements

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Oracle DBA for a 12 Months Inside IR35 contract based Hybrid Newcastle upon Tyne, Blackpool or Manchester


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active SV clearance.

  • Provide effective, efficient, and innovative services to the millions of claimants who rely on us every day, including the most vulnerable in society
  • Improve experience of our services while maximising value for money for the taxpayer.


As a Oracle DBA, your main responsibilities will be:


Essential:

  • Oracle RDBMS 11.2-23ai experience of supporting Oracle RAC including ASM, AFD, HANFS, TAF. Additional experience of multitenant, TDE and TLS desirable.
  • Specifically in a Linux/Aix OS environment
  • RMAN Backup and recovery
  • OEM, OCI’s Db Management
  • Patching and Upgrade experience
  • Track record of supporting highly available mission critical databases
  • Dataguard setup and configuration
  • Data migration tooling Datapump, Golden Gate, ZDM
  • Exadata and Base Database configuration experience in OCI
  • Oracle Database technologies (RAC, Dataguard, RMAN Backup and Recovery) and Public Cloud Technologies (particularly OCI and AWS)
  • Writing Infrastructure as Code and debugging Terraform and Ansible
  • Managing and maintaining Security procedures including:
  • Implementing network segregation in a public cloud environment (preferably AWS)
  • Incorporating transport encryption to protect data in transit (preferably Oracle)
  • Understanding implementation of database encryption options (preferably Oracle)
  • Conducting Migration Testing (preferably through Oracle and AWS) and implementing secure authentication with OIDC for GitLab runners
  • Maintaining and updating repositories with Git
