Compliance & Transparency Manager
Basis: Permanent, Full time 36 hours per week
Salary: £52,420 - £55,041
London-based employees receive an additional £3,217 London weighting.
A £312 tax-free working from home allowance is also payable annually.
Location: London, Cardiff, Belfast or Edinburgh (Hybrid – min. 2 days in office) or Remote (UK)

About the role
This is a senior leadership role with national impact.
As Compliance & Transparency Manager, you will oversee and manage the Compliance and Transparency function for political finance, managing the receipt, review and preparation of reporting of all statutory reports from political parties, campaigners and others.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Joint operational management responsibility for the Compliance and Transparency function, ensuring work meets timescales and adheres to Commission policies, procedures, and responsibilities.
- Oversee day-to-day implementation of the compliance programme, establishing and maintaining effective monitoring and reporting systems.
- Communicate key findings to leadership and provide strategic recommendations.
- Provide effective line management to Compliance and Transparency staff, offering direction, support, and professional development in line with the Commission’s performance management framework.
- Manage procedures for receiving, preparing, and publishing statutory reports, including developing and revising processes based on good practice and experience.
- Review, update, and investigate data from relevant sources to ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to maintain optimal compliance data quality, remediate issues, and progress matters in line with non-compliance and Enforcement policies.
- Lead development and management of proactive advice to parties, campaigners, and cross-commission functions, including regulatory guidance, external communications, and media responses.
- Regularly review and update monitoring frameworks to reflect changing internal requirements and regulatory landscapes.
- Assist and coordinate new initiatives, including those involving business change.
About the team
The post-holder will liaise with colleagues across the Commission to ensure the effective management of the responsibilities of the post. The post-holder will also represent the Commission externally for areas relating to political finance, compliance and transparency issues, with a particular focus on developing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders amongst political parties and campaigners.
Who we’re looking for
- Relevant certification/qualifications in audit, compliance, risk, governance, or related fields
- Experience in compliance, risk management, financial crime mitigation activities or a related field, preferably within political finance, regulation, or a professional services firm
- Proven experience in team leadership
- Proven experience of managing projects
- Proven experience of engaging stakeholders at all levels
- Understanding of political finance and party funding with ability to interpret financial returns and reports
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, legislation (PPERA), and standards
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to demonstrate a strong knowledge of PPERA requirements
- Strong people management and leadership skills with the ability to implement, embed, and supervise effective compliance
- Proficiency in Excel
Experience working in a regulated, public sector or politically sensitive environment would be advantageous, but is not essential.
