On behalf of Defra, we are looking for a Data Modeller (Inside IR35) for a 4 Month contract based REMOTELY/ in UK Wide.

As a Data Modeller, your main responsibilities will be:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Modeller to join our team and play a key role in designing, structuring, and optimising data models that support our business intelligence and analytics initiatives. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure data is accessible, reliable, and aligned with organisational needs.


  • Design and implement robust data models to support reporting and analytics.
  • Collaborate with data engineering teams to optimise data pipelines and storage solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Work with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Support integration and management of data across Microsoft Fabric and Dataverse environments.


Essential:

  • SQL Expertise: Advanced skills in writing, optimising, and troubleshooting complex queries.
  • Data Engineering: Strong understanding of ETL processes, data pipelines, and performance tuning.
  • Microsoft Fabric: Hands-on experience with Fabric components for analytics and data management.
  • Dataverse: Practical knowledge of data modelling and integration within Microsoft Dataverse.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of working independently and alongside another data modeller.


Desirable:

  • Experience with Power BI and other Microsoft ecosystem tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture principles.
