Description & Requirements



On behalf of AWE, we are looking for an Estate Transport Planning Lead (Inside IR35) for a 12 month hybrid contract based in Aldermaston.

AWE plays a crucial role in national nuclear security. Their role in nuclear deterrence and their specialist technical assistance to nuclear threat reduction is vital in the defence against the most serious threats faced by the UK. As an Estate Transport Planning Lead, your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Prepare required transport documentation in support of planning applications and gain acceptance from external stakeholders.
  • Ensure contractors prepare and implement Construction Traffic Management Plans (CTMPs) which accord with WBC transport policies.
  • Provide transport planning elements of the estate master plan and assist with implementation.
  • Prepare and implement site gate access and car parking management strategies to minimise impacts on the public highway.
  • Act as lead liaison with key internal and external stakeholders on day to day site transport operations Implement, maintain and update the AWE Travel Plan.
  • Prepare the transport elements of the AWE Local Development Orders


Essential:


  • The ability to develop and manage estate transport strategies, including creating business cases, conducting options appraisals, and supporting investment governance for infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in engaging with senior stakeholders, coordinating across multiple teams, and influencing decision-making in complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of transport planning principles, data analysis of operational and capital costs, and use of tools to support investment decisions and performance reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage plans and priorities within a changing environment, ensuring delivery of enabling works and utilities for major capital programmes.


Desirable:


  • Candidates should ideally hold current SC clearance.
