About the Electoral Commission

About the role
This role plays a pivotal part in shaping the future of the UK political finance system, As the postholder, you’ll lead the planning and coordination of operational changes required by upcoming legislative reforms, ensuring they are delivered effectively and on time. On a day-to-day basis, you will:
- Develop and oversee detailed plans to implement complex reforms
- Work closely with Policy, Legal Digital and Communications teams to assess impacts and ensure workability
- Engage with stakeholders across the UK to provide expert advice and influence decision-making
- Monitor progress, risks and dependencies and implement mitigation strategies to maintain delivery
This role directly supports the Commission’s mission to ensure transparency and fairness in the political finance system, strengthening public trust in the democratic process
About the team
The Regulatory Support team provides advice and guidance to parties and campaigners to ensure they understand the political finance laws and their obligations. The team plays a key role in advocating for its stakeholders to ensure any changes to the law are workable and evidence based. They are also responsible for ensuring the regulated community can prepare and understand how any new legislation applies.

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is a skilled leader with a good understanding of electoral law, political finance or legislative reform. You’ll bring proven experience of managing complex change, building stakeholder relationships and delivering outcomes.
You’ll be successful if you can:
- Take ownership of projects – shaping their scope, driving delivery and celebrating measurable results while proactively identifying risks, engaging cross-functional teams (policy, legal, digital, communications,) and proposing solutions that ensure reforms are both workable and impactful
- Translate complex ideas into clear, compelling messages – influencing and gaining buy in from colleagues at all levels
- Think big picture, while mastering the details – ensuring strategic goals are met without losing sight of operational precision
- Manage risk and opportunities effectively – identifying or resolving risks across competing workstreams to maintain momentum and impact
- Juggle priorities with ease – planning and organising your time to meet multiple deadlines without compromising quality
- Work autonomously and collaboratively – prioritising effectively and engaging stakeholders across the UK, proposing solutions that support long-term reform
Benefits

The Electoral Commission offers a competitive mix of benefits including:
