Description & Requirements


On behalf of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA), we are looking for a Governance, Risk and Organizational Lead  Inside IR35  for a 6 months contract based Hybrid 2-3 days a week in Southampton 


As a Governance, Risk and Organizational Lead, your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Provide effective and inspiring leadership to your functional areas within MCA. Fostering a high performing culture based on excellence and innovation through effective performance management, communication, colleague engagement and the development of staff.
  • Lead and develop the Agency’s approach to risk management in line with the government’s Orange Book requirements, ensuring effective design and implementation of policies, procedures and practices for risk identification and mitigation strategies
  • Responsible for the process and development of agency performance reporting, ensuring that there is accurate and timely performance management information developed and reported within the Business including to the Executive Committee and Board, aligned to regulatory requirements, ensuring data integrity and accuracy
  • Develop reporting templates, tools, and guidance to standardise reporting and drive best practice and innovation in reporting, optimising the utilisation of tools to manipulate and visualise data. Ensuring that all the governance procedures and policies are fit for purpose, up to date and accessible to all colleagues.
  • Develop and publish of the Annual Agency Business Plan, the Annual Report and Accounts and the Management Assurance exercise, including ensuring a clear process and timeline that aligns to government requirements and preparing the annual Governance Statement
  • Develop and maintain the Agency’s approach to Business Continuity, ensuring robust plans are in place, well tested and regularly reviewed


Essential:

  • Experience of operating robust Risk Management and Business Continuity processes
  • Experience of developing strategies and business plans, providing insight and clear understanding of strategic and corporate issues.
  • Experience in working at organizational level or across multiple divisions/departments
  • Experience of providing effective advice on compliance issues, including legal and regulatory where applicable, and applying public sector guidelines and rules
  • Experience of developing and implementing performance management and reporting frameworks suitable for providing oversight at Board and executive level
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills with a demonstrable ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders up to a senior level.
