AMS PSR

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Solutions Architect for a 6 months Inside IR35 contract based hybrid Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Blackpool, Birmingham, Sheffield

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:

• Help people to move into work and support those already in work to progress, with the aim of increasing overall workforce participation
• Help people to plan and save for later life, while providing a safety net for those who need it now
• Provide effective, efficient, and innovative services to the millions of claimants who rely on us every day, including the most vulnerable in society
• Improve experience of our services while maximising value for money for the taxpayer.

As a Solutions Architect, your main responsibilities will be:

Key Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end technical solutions aligned to business and architectural standards
• Lead architecture and technical design for large-scale enterprise programmes
• Produce and communicate solution designs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Work closely with engineering teams to deliver value-for-money solutions
• Define integration approaches using microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture and file-based transfers
• Support governance, roadmaps, technical debt reduction and architecture best practices

Essential Skills & Experience

• Expert-level Solutions Architecture experience
• Strong background in SaaS product selection and implementation
• Proven experience designing microservices, APIs and integration solutions
• Experience creating and maintaining architecture artefacts and solution views
• Knowledge of event-driven and public cloud architectures
• Experience working in organisations with 100,000+ employees
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills

Desirable

• Experience delivering people, finance, commercial or estates systems
• Previous public sector or government experience
