Description & Requirements


On behalf of the DSTL, we are currently creating a pipeline for x3 HR Administrators (Inside IR35) for a 12 month hybrid contract based out of Porton Down, Salisbury.


The successful candidates will have an expectation to be based in the office x3 days per week after the initial training period and the remainig 2 days can be worked from home.


DSTL is the Ministry of Defence (MOD)’s science and technology organisation, providing unique expertise, crucial insights and delivering battle-winning solutions for the benefit of the nation and allies. DSTL is one of the principal government organisations dedicated to science and technology in the defence and security field. DSTL supplies specialist and sensitive services to MOD and wider government, working collaboratively with external partners in industry and academia and worldwide, providing expert research, specialist advice and invaluable operational support.


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.


As a HR Administrator, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Provide 1st line HR support, resolving employee and manager queries on policies, benefits and HR processes.
  • Analyse HR enquiries, identify trends and produce insights to support decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, documentation and management reporting.
  • Support recruitment activities, including job descriptions, interview coordination and onboarding.
  • Coordinate learning & development administration, training requests and supplier invoicing.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and HR projects to enhance the employee experience.
  • Ensure HR compliance, champion best practice and contribute to continuous process improvement.


Essential:


  • Ideally you'll have an HR background, however we also welcome candidates from administration, recruitment or customer service environments.
  • Strong administrative skills with experience working in a busy, fast-paced team.
  • Confident managing shared inboxes and responding to queries efficiently.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritise workloads and manage competing demands effectively.
  • Proactive and self-sufficient, with the ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Quick to learn new processes and build effective working relationships across teams.
  • Strong judgement when assessing priorities and identifying what needs action first.
  • You must be a sole UK National
