Description & Requirements


On behalf of Defra, we are looking for a Workforce Team Leader (Inside IR35) for a hybrid contract up until 31/3/26, with 1 day a week in the office in either Warrington/Preston or Penrith and the remainder working home.


In the Defra group, we deal with a vast range of issues that profoundly impact on people’s lives. We are responsible for England’s environment, our countryside and rural economy, the food and farming sectors and have lead responsibility for protection from a wide range of natural threats and hazards. As a Workforce Team Leader, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Carrying our performance reviews
  • Managing the wellbeing of the team and any challenges, motivating and regular check ins
  • Overseeing staff workload
  • Administration tasks, checking timesheets and approving expenses


Essential:


  • Line management/performance management experience
  • Coordinating tasks
  • Influencing other to achieve outcomes


Desirable:


  • An understanding of the environment and sustainability sector
  • An understanding of project and programme management
  • Experience of project team management in Flood & Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) activities
