Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, we are looking for a Project Manager (Inside IR35) for a 9 Month contract based. Hybrid working with travel to Warrington as needed.


We have 5 offices across the UK, in Cumbria, Dounreay, Harwell, Warrington and London. We have 17 sites including the first fleet of nuclear power stations, research centres, fuel-related facilities, and Sellafield, which has the largest radioactive inventory and the most complex facilities to decommission.


We are sponsored by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and supported by Dounreay, Magnox, Nuclear Waste Services, Nuclear Transport Solutions and Sellafield. The Scottish government also has a governance role, working closely with DESNZ to ensure its expectations are met.


As a Project Manager, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Define project scope (including out-of-scope), approach, and initiate core documentation with stakeholders
  • Establish project foundations: sponsorship, plans, budget validation, resources, roles, and governance
  • Manage delivery end-to-end, ensuring adherence to lifecycle processes, methodology, and third-party alignment
  • Oversee financials, resources, risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies (RAID), and ongoing stakeholder engagement
  • Monitor progress, maintain accurate plans and reporting, and drive communication and change management plans
  • Lead project closure: BAU handover, documentation completion, lessons learned, and knowledge sharing


Essential Skills


  • Extensive experience in delivering previous IT Projects including Microsoft 365 with skillsets across both agile and waterfall methodologies.
  • Extensive experience in the delivery off the full life cycle in highly regulated environments with a focus on governance and project control.
  • Extensive stakeholder engagement at all levels across the business
  • Experience across both testing and networking of project delivery
  • Strong self starter with a proactive approach to all duties
