On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a ServiceNow Developer for a 6 month contract (Inside IR35) based hybrid in any DWP Hub (Birmingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, London) 3 days per week.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. Working with DWP, you will be helping us to drive our priorities to:
- Help people to move into work and support those already in work to progress, with the aim of increasing overall workforce participation

- Provide effective, efficient, and innovative services to the millions of claimants who rely on us every day, including the most vulnerable in society
- Improve experience of our services while maximising value for money for the taxpayer.
As a ServiceNow Developer you will be responsible for ensuring development, within the feature team(s) you are responsible for, meets both the stated requirements and the acceptable standards defined within the PDU. You will provide technical guidance and escalation for developers and other members of the feature team(s). You will work within, and contribute to, the overall ServiceNow Development Lifecycle Process as part of a delivery team focused on one or more products, providing specialist technical support and assistance to feature teams and projects ensuring definition and delivery of requisite functional requirements to roadmap developments. You will be responsible for ensuring performant and secure configuration of the products within your feature team(s).
As a ServiceNow Developer, your main responsibilities will be:
- Deliver new configuration and functionality to the ServiceNow Production instance in line with the DWP Software Delivery Lifecycle and DWPPlace roadmap.
- Complete stories assigned or escalate blockers to ensure that development is completed to expected standards and are delivered within timescales.
- Working to the Delivery Manager you will be an intrinsic part of the ServiceNow Product Delivery Unit, working alongside other members of the feature team and DWP internal teams and end user communities
- Creating and maintaining documentation.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent understanding of ServiceNow platform components.
- Strong understanding of client side functionality.
- Strong understanding of server side functionality and API’s.
Knowledge and Experience required:
- Demonstrate experience of working in a large scale organisation and/or Government or Public Sector installation of Service Now
- 2 years’+ hands on Development experience on the platform
- Demonstrate experience of delivering solutions within an agile framework.
- Demonstrate experience of troubleshooting and resolving complex issues across an enterprise tooling infrastructure, individually or as part of a team.
- Experience in building, configuring and implementing ServiceNow features, applications and integrations
- ITIL Qualification or experience/skills
