Description & Requirements

On behalf of Department for Education, we are looking for a Data Governance Officer (Inside IR35) for a 3 month contract based hybrid in Coventry, Darlington, Sheffield as and when required.


As a Data Governance Officer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Defining and establishing the roles of Data Owners and Stewards across the department.
  • Driving cultural change and embedding Data ownership best practice across directorates
  • Ensure compliance with data related regulation, policies, standards, roles and responsibilities.
  • Support development of KPIs for Data Governance to demonstrate its value to the wider organisation.
  • Passionate about data with good experience of doing process mapping, design and re-engineering preferably in a statistical based environment.
  • Supporting the ongoing communication of delivery status to stakeholders
  • Good experience of working across reference data, metadata and data lineage problems/solutions
  • Building and maintaining strong relationship with external/internal stakeholders to support successful project on-boarding in use of data governance tool sets


Essential:

  • Knowledge of data governance approaches, practices and pitfalls in a large organisation.
  • Experience of change management and a track record of success.
  • Ability to articulate messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of data profiling methods and tools and / or data quality management systems and processes.
  • Experience of working in statistical and analytical environments will be an advantage
