Description & Requirements

On behalf of DESNZ, we are looking for a Workforce Planning Manager for a 3 month Contract  (Inside IR35) contract based 2 days a week (Flexible) in London, Salford, Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Darlington or Edinburgh


The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is focused on the energy portfolio from the former Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

As a Workforce Planning Manager, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Scope and deliver on projects under the Departmental Strategic Workforce Plan with a particular focus on workforce skills and shape:
  • Capability and learning – helping influence HR colleagues developing and implementing the department’s capability plan to bridge our gaps for future skill needs as we look to begin a larger reskilling agenda.
  • Digital, AI & Productivity – working collaboratively with Transformation and Digital colleagues to understand the near and far term implications of AI for our workforce from a shape, skills and size perspective.
  • Workforce shape and agility – helping us grow agility within DESNZ from a profession/function perspective, and leading on realising the benefits from our new position management system, such as collaborating with Organisation Design team on their work around job standardisation and team size/shape.
  • Deliver presentations and draft papers that are tailored to audience needs, including to senior stakeholders, to inform and influence their approaches.
  • Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders across HR, Finance and Strategy directorates, Heads of Profession support teams, and Government Major Project teams to deliver shared priorities, and keep informed of cross-cutting issues.


Essential:

  • Workforce Planning experience
  • Strategic HR thinker
  • Delivery project work
  • Ability to design and deliver workforce capability, skills and reskilling initiatives aligned to future organisational needs.
  • Ability to analyse the workforce impact of Digital, AI and productivity changes and translate insights into actionable workforce plans.
  • Ability to build effective cross‑functional relationships and influence senior stakeholders through clear, tailored papers and presentations.


Desirable:


  • CIPD membership (level 7 would be ideal)
