On behalf of the Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) we are looking for a Financial Accountant (Inside IR35) for a 3 month contract based REMOTELY .
The new Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) is seeking a Financial Accountant.
This role offers a unique opportunity to support the production of IBCA’s annual report and accounts, manage month end reconciliations, support internal and external audits, oversee accounting policy and ensure financial integrity and controls.
Support the organisation rapidly establish its processes and deliver to tight timescales,
This role will from time to time require flexibility to assist with the wider finance deliverables.
As a Financial Accountant, your main responsibilities will be:
- Supporting the annual report and accounts (ARA) production and audit
- Defining accounting policies
- Ensuring general ledger integrity and undertaking key monthly reconciliations
- Monitoring material balances for the compensation scheme
- Providing technical accounting advice
- Determining capital treatment
- Collaborating on Whole of Government Accounts submissions.
Essential:
- Public sector accounting and audit experience, ideally within a newly formed ALB.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and, preferably, the Government Financial Reporting Manual (FReM).
- Skilled in month-end processes including accruals, journals, ledger reviews, and reconciliations.
- Effective communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities flexibly and collaboratively.
Desirable:
- Part-qualified or qualified (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA).
