Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for a Category Lead (Inside IR35) for a 6 months contract based UK wide.


The Cabinet Office supports the Prime Minister and ensures the effective running of government. The Cabinet Office is also the corporate headquarters for the government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and takes the lead in certain critical policy areas. You will act as a senior commercial advisor to the business, providing expert commercial advice as part of the wider commercial team and specific to the business area and/or category you lead.  You will be expected to provide commercial guidance and support to enable appropriate decision making and maximise value for money both in new procurement activity and existing supplier management, able to act under your own initiative and lead and drive commercial projects, engaging and influencing key stakeholders within your areas of responsibility. 

 At the same time, you will work with other commercial team members to enable continuous improvement and commercial capability development with your customers, working to implement new policies and processes as required.. 


As a Category Lead, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Develop category strategies to meet customer needs, maximise value for money, and drive growth.
  • Research and analyse market trends to inform category strategies and maintain a robust pipeline.
  • Build relationships with CCS category teams and utilise their market strategies.
  • Lead the commercial lifecycle for spend categories, supporting procurement strategy and market engagement.
  • Manage central contracts effectively and support contract implementation and dispute resolution.
  • Act as a commercial business partner, providing strategic advice and supporting the implementation of governmental commercial policies.


Essential:

  • Experiencing working with senior stakeholders clearly defining requirements
  • Category Strategy Experience ensuring governance
  • Proven experience Improving and developing category Strategy 
  • Experience interfacing with Category teams providing advice and guidance



Desirable:


  • MCIPS 
  • Public sector experience
