Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for a Technical Writer/Lead Content Designer (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Hybrid at any MOJ Hub across the UK.


The Cabinet Office supports the Prime Minister and ensures the effective running of government. The Cabinet Office is also the corporate headquarters for the government, in partnership with HM Treasury, and takes the lead in certain critical policy areas. As a Technical Writer your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Consolidate and update Technical Guidance documents from various groups into a central public repository, serving as a useful reference for Standards across technical professions.
  • Develop output from the Technical Design Authority into formal standards, through an appropriate draft and review process.
  • Produce a well structured document outlining the organisation’s technology strategy.
  • Work across diverse and inclusive teams, primarily engaging with the Head and Deputy Head of Engineering.


Essential:

  • Proven experience writing structured documentation on technical subjects for diverse audiences.
  • Background in software development or a related discipline (beneficial).
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills - Ability to work with a broad range of people to gather information and feedback, including, CTOs, Engineering leads, Technical Architects and other key contributors.
  • Ability to research and write about technical subjects where the current information is lacking.
  • Experience writing documentation in Markdown.
  • Experience with Git and GitHub, preferably with an understanding of the Pull Request review process.
