Description & Requirements

On behalf of the National Crime Agency (NCA), we are looking for an IT Project Planner (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract based Remote (Occasional visits to the London Office).


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance. 


The CSA (Child Sexual Abuse) Transformation Programme is delivering two major IT Projects and requires an experienced IT Project Planner to support the delivery of the Programme. The Projects will deliver new and improved technological products and services essential for the NCA’s fight against CSA and exploitation in the UK.

The role of the IT Project Planner is to support the Programme Director and Senior Project Managers, and to work with stakeholders to ensure all aspects of the Projects are defined. You will provide clarity on key milestones to define what, when and how activities will be organised to ensure the outcomes of the Projects can be achieved with the resources available. The IT Project Planner will lead on all aspects of project planning, which will include the development, updating and monitoring of plans and schedules. They identify tasks, activities, interdependencies and outputs for the Projects and work with the Project teams to track and monitor progress against the plans throughout the life of the Projects.


As an IT Project Planner your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead project delivery to meet agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, controls and delivery methodologies (Agile/Waterfall).
  • Coordinate business case development and track delivery against budget.
  • Manage resources and scheduling across small or multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Identify and monitor risks, issues, and dependencies; escalate where needed.
  • Stakeholder management - Engage stakeholders and support governance through reporting and assurance.
  • Drive benefits realisation and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Facilitate change management ensuring effective processes are in place and promote team performance and development.


Essential:

  • Experience of developing/delivering IT solutions using project methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
  • Ability to identify, document and analyse delivery options for complex I.T development/project problems.
  • Understanding and experience of IT delivery including data migration/solutions and systems integration.
  • Comfortable working with a technical and skilled diverse team.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities within a high tempo delivery context.
  • Highly organised with strong multi-tasking abilities and excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Able to demonstrate >3 years relevant experience of delivering similar projects.
  • Knowledge of Organisation and key IT capabilities will be provided.
  • Experience working with law enforcement or government agencies (NCA experience highly desirable).
