On behalf of National Savings & Investments, we are looking for a Financial Accountant (Inside IR35) for a 9 month contract based in London, Durham, Glasgow or Lytham 2 days a week in the office

This role is subject to Baseline Personnel Security Standard and financial credit checks.
As a Financial Accountant, your main responsibilities will be:
- Prepare financial statements, notes, and disclosures for annual reports in compliance with IFRS and HM Treasury’s FReM.
- Produce statutory accounts and estimates, supporting internal and external audits to meet agreed timelines, and liaise with NAO for audit evidence and explanations.
- Maintain and update accounting policies, delivering training and guidance where required, and support senior finance management on complex accounting issues.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations, resolve unreconciled items, and maintain documentation to support reported balances.
- Oversee non-current asset register and monthly processes, including additions, disposals, verifications, and journal entries, ensuring compliance with NS&I policies.
- Manage payroll journal and reconciliation, assist with VAT preparation and quarterly reconciliation, and supervise accounts receivable processes to ensure timely invoicing and debt resolution
Essential:
- Fixed assets (CDEL/RDEL) experience
- Experience preparing Financial Accounts
- Financial Accounting Background
- Qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA
- Reconciliations experience
Desirable:
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
