AMS PSR

On behalf of the NCA we are looking for a Software Tester (Inside IR35) for a 12 month initial contract. Hybrid working based in either London, Bristol, Birmingham or Warrington. 

In this role you will participate in the development of software capability within the NCA National Cyber Crime Unit (NCCU) by building upon existing capabilities and creating innovative applications.

As a member of a technical team you will be working with a range of programming paradigms, data structures and modern programming languages to support, identify and develop software and technical opportunities and smarter working.

As a Software Tester your main responsibilities will be to:

• Accelerate the process of taking new ideas and features through to the live environment with test automation.
• Improve the overall test practices across the system through technical implementation and mentoring developers on testing, increasing reliability and stability.
• Testing the code written by software developers.
• Testing how individual cloud components are integrating with each other, and how to assess that programmatically.

Essential:

• An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.) 
• Demonstratable experience within Software Testing and Quality Assurance.
• Able to self-initiate work to a consistently high level, within agreed operational and budgetary requirements for meeting allocated technical objectives.
• Ability to perform an extensive range of complex technical activities, requiring the application of fundamental principles in a range of unpredictable contexts.
• Can analyse, design, plan and establish milestones, and execute and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets.
• Ability to build effective relationships across the organisation and partners; ensuring a collaborative way of working to meet demands.
• Can creatively apply innovative thinking and design practices in identifying solutions.
• Can use and develop software to identify opportunities for operational responses, automating the process wherever possible.

Desirable:

• AWS experience.
• Python experience.
