Description & Requirements

On behalf of The Home Office we are looking for a Senior Technology Delivery Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with travel as and when required to either London, Croydon, Sheffield, Manchester or Liverpool.

The first duty of Government is to protect the public. Since 1782, the Home Office has led work to keep the country safe from those who seek to do it harm; in doing so, we make a vital contribution to HM Government’s plan for a stronger, fairer, outward-looking and united Britain.

The Home Office covers three systems Homeland Security, Public Safety and Borders, and Immigration and Citizenship. These systems work collaboratively to deliver our cross-cutting priorities, whilst providing increasingly efficient and secure services for the public. These are difficult areas that can rapidly change in the global environment we work in – this makes us one of the most exciting and stimulating government departments in which to work.

As a Senior Technology Delivery Manager, you will be accountable for team performance and the delivery of complex technology products and services over one or more teams. You will set up your teams for success and represent them to stakeholders and suppliers, building successful relationships across and beyond the organisation. You will find and remove blockers and inefficiencies, using data to continually push for better ways of working, leading to better outcomes.

As a Senior Technology Delivery Manager your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage supplier relationships as a key contact point, monitoring performance and ensuring alignment across teams, stakeholders, suppliers, and governance bodies to support successful delivery.
  • Develop and manage stakeholder engagement strategies, building strong relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders and using feedback to improve outcomes.
  • Plan and coordinate delivery in line with capacity, maintaining realistic plans that meet quality, cost, and time constraints, including effective budgeting and supplier engagement.
  • Identify, manage, and remove risks, issues, and blockers, ensuring appropriate mitigation and supporting teams in governance processes and follow-up actions.
  • Build and develop high-performing, motivated teams, monitoring team health, providing direction and feedback, and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Support the delivery of technology products and services across teams, coaching on appropriate methodologies and driving continuous improvement in processes and outcomes.
  • Lead teams in different delivery approaches, such as Agile and Waterfall, guiding them in implementing the most appropriate methodology for the situation, while continuously reflecting and challenging them to inspect and improve processes.
