On behalf of the Met Office we are looking for a Learning Content / Instructional Designer (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract. Remote working with occasional travel to Exeter.
*Please note this is a Part Time position, working 2.5 days per week / 10 days per month *
As a learning content designer / instructional designer in the Scalable Climate Services training & user support team, you will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality learning experiences as part of a new innovative online training service for our industry customers.
You will work closely with our Scalable Climate Services training team to create innovative, engaging and effective online learning modules and materials that support the professional development of our customers.
You will be responsible for creating, evaluating, updating and reviewing new learning content at all stages of the end-to-end user journey to meet user needs and make complex language and processes easy to understand, presenting the right information in the right format for what users need.
As a Learning Content / Instructional Designer your main responsibilities will be to:
- Apply Instructional Design methodologies (eg. ADDIE) to develop scalable and effective learning solutions.
- Work with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and key internal teams to define training needs, learning objectives, and learner parameters.
- Create engaging, learner-centred instructional materials, including e-learning modules, explainer videos, instructor-led training, blended learning solutions, and job aids.
- Develop content in a variety of formats, ensuring they are aligned with organisational needs and ensuring all learning solutions are accessible, inclusive, and compliant with relevant training best practice, policies and standards.
- Use learning technologies and platforms (e.g., LMS, authoring tools, video editing software) to deliver and manage content effectively.
- Support SMEs to develop learning content through, for example, the creation of templates and written/video guidance.
- Evaluate and test learning materials to ensure effectiveness, making iterative improvements based on feedback.
Essential:
- An active SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. (Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.)
- Experience and knowledge of Learning Design processes and designing learning content.
- Experience of Rise360.
- Video editing experience.
- Ability to own content creation and publishing software.
- Ability to challenge ideas and offer learning solutions.
- An understanding of the practical applications of AI in learning design.
