As an Agile Delivery Manager, you will be at the forefront of digital transformation in government and help shape our services to meet the ever-changing demands of the UK’s business landscape.

We are looking for talented Agile Delivery Managers with a software delivery and digital/data services background to help our Agile Scrum teams develop and deliver quality services for our millions of users.
There are multiple vacancies across several areas:
- A newly formed Service team focusing on iterating and improving live services.
- A data team currently focused on moving data across from existing sources to a Cloud Data Platform and building analytical data products for use across Companies House.
- Agile Delivery teams working on fast paced delivery of projects aligned to portfolio, transformation or legislative changes.

Job description
The Service and Data teams are new to Agile, Scrum, and Lean ways of working. They will require an Agile Delivery Manager with proficient coaching and mentoring skills that can help them grow into self-organising teams and deliver customer value to a high standard.
The delivery teams are well established who are experienced in working with agile methodologies. These teams require an Agile Delivery manager who will help to maintain the high standard of delivery alongside facilitation of continuous improvement within the team.
This rewarding leadership role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with people and is motivated by successful delivery in a complex environment. We are looking for someone who cares about and can exemplify Civil Service values, in a diverse, ethical, and positive working culture.
As the Agile Delivery Manager, you will be accountable for the successful delivery of products and services within your team.
You will lead one of our Agile Scrum teams, acting as a true leader to facilitate collaboration, decision-making, effective planning of work, clarity on vision, scope, goals and roadmap, conflicting priorities and conflict resolution.
You would be instrumental in taking the Product vision and making it happen. Showing exceptional leadership and communication skills, you will be expected to understand and improve the teams way of working to meet delivery expectations and timelines.
An Agile Delivery Manager is accountable for the performance of the team.
At this role level, you will:
- Be an active member of our community of practice, where you will share best practice, insight and support with your peers.
- Lead from the front using your Agile expertise and the scrum framework and Lean practices.
- Build and maintain teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborative, and working productively.
- Proactively address team dynamics and resolve issues as they arise, removing impediments/blockers to ensure a smooth workflow.
- Challenge and encourage the team to identify assumptions, dependencies and risks and proactively plan to address these throughout delivery.
- Focus the team on what is most important to the delivery of products and services.
- Encourage, support, and facilitate continuous improvement of the delivery team.
- Understand the agile project phases and know how to support the team through this lifecycle (discovery, alpha, beta, live, retirement).
- Coach and mentor team members and others to apply the most appropriate Agile and Lean tools and techniques
- Form relationships with your peers to enable efficient cross-team collaboration and dependency management.

We are looking for the following experience, which will be assessed at sift and at interview.
You will be a true leader who steers from the front. You will be someone who can create the right environment for your multidisciplinary teams to succeed, helping them to become self-managing and creating a culture of learning and transparency.
We will look for the required skills as detailed in the Government Digital and Data Delivery Manager capability, at Delivery Manager level, and in particular:
- Scrum certified to a minimum of Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), Professional Scrum with Kanban Certification (PSK-I). We cannot accept part-qualifications or equivalent certifications.
- Agile and Lean Practices.
- Strong track record of building high performing agile software delivery teams using Scrum (additional experience of Kanban, XP, or Lean is desirable).
- Extensive understanding of product, services, and software development lifecycle, and proven experience of end-to-end delivery from initiation to live, as well as experience of iterating and improving services post live.
- Communicating between technical and non-technical stakeholders, using delivery plans, roadmaps and forecasting techniques.
- Maintain visibility of your team’s performance using metrics.
- Proven experience of coaching and mentoring.
Our team
Our Agile Delivery Profession is part of the Digital and Technology (DAT) directorate. We are a team of 16 permanent and 10 third party Agile Delivery Managers working hand in hand to deliver Companies House digital strategy. We have 6 experienced Senior Agile Delivery Managers who will support you closely in your work, and one of them will be your direct line manager.

We are currently using a hybrid approach to the way we work which provides opportunities for you to be adaptable in the way you work so that you can achieve a healthy balance between your work and home life. What will the process look like?
Sift
- Once the advert has closed we will sift applications - this involves reading through them all, please bear with us as this can take some time.
- We may raise the score required if we receive a high number of applications.
- At sift we may choose to take through the highest performing candidates to the next stage. If, after the final stage is completed and roles are unfilled, we will proceed to invite lower scoring candidates to interview.
- At sift candidates will be assessed against the bullet points listed above.
Interview
- Successful candidates from the sift stage will be invited to attend an interview, which will conducted using Microsoft Teams.
- We use a blended interview technique, allowing us to find out more about you.
- We use the Success Profile framework and at interview we will use Success Profiles assessing the Behaviours and Technical Skills listed in the advert.
- As part of your interview, there will be a work-based activity. The work-based activity (which will be a discussion topic) will be at the beginning of your interview and will be assessing the technical skills listed in the advert (Agile and Lean practices, and Planning - maintaining delivery momentum).
- The panel will share the discussion topic details at the beginning of the call - they're keen to discuss your approach and understand how you tackle a work-based scenario. 15 minutes of the interview will be dedicated to this section. You are not required to prepare or present your work; this is an opportunity to demonstrate your approach.
- The next part of the interview will be Behaviour questions.
- The lead criteria to distinguish between tied candidates will be: Technical Skills (Agile and Lean practices, and Planning - maintaining delivery momentum).
- A reserve list may be held for up to 12 months from which further appointments may be made for the same or similar roles.

Security Clearance
Successful candidates must pass a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check before they can be appointed.
BPSS is an entry level security check. It uses the Police National Computer (PNC) to make sure a candidate has no convictions. The check returns evidence of any current criminal record and un-spent convictions under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
Successful candidates must meet the security requirements for Security Check (SC) before they can be appointed.
The requirement for SC clearance is to have been present in the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years. Failure to meet the residency requirements will result in your security clearance application being rejected.
