Description & Requirements

On behalf of The Money and Pensions Service we are looking for a Lead Test Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract. Hybrid working with occasional travel to London. 


As a Lead Test Manager your main responsibilities will be:


  • Overseeing the testing processes, managing the test team, and ensuring the quality of software products through effective testing strategies and methodologies.
  • Creating a comprehensive test strategy that outlines the overall approach to testing within the timeline of remaining programme activities, including objectives, scope, and resources required.
  • Preparing detailed test plans that define test objectives, schedules, deliverables, and resource allocation.
  • Leading and managing a team of testers by assigning tasks, setting priorities, and monitoring progress. Provide guidance, support, and direction to team members.
  • Collaborating with the team to design test scenarios and cases that cover all functionalities and requirements of the various digital delivery workstreams.
  • Monitoring the execution of test cases, ensuring adherence to the test plan and timely resolution of issues.
  • Reporting Test Results: Consolidating and analysing test findings, preparing comprehensive reports that communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Evaluating and improving testing processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Working with stakeholders across the ecosystem to ensure all interdependencies are jointly owned and managed between parties.
  • Owning and building relationships with the delivery managers, technical teams, product owners, and senior stakeholders.


Essential:


  • Evidence of providing testing and quality assurance direction on a large or high-profile digital or technology project.
  • Substantial knowledge and application of agile ways of working, particularly demonstrating an agile mindset to coach and lead technical delivery teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of software testing processes, methodologies, and tools.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities to guide team members.
  • Excellent planning and problem-solving skills to address technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills to manage multiple projects and report progress effectively.


Desirable:


  • Experience of working in central government, delivering against Government Digital Service (GDS) Standards,
  • Experience within the pensions industry and/or Department of Work and Pensions, Pensions Directorate.
  • A good understanding of issues within a large development programme.
  • Experience of establishing ways of working and leading diverse teams.
  • Experience of helping construct and deliver messages across all stakeholders on a project, ensuring they are communicated with on a consistent basis.
