The Employee Engagement Specialist is responsible for building and implementing data-driven strategies that foster a highly engaged, inclusive, and productive workplace culture. This role emphasises the use of data analysis to monitor employee sentiment, measure engagement, and identify SLC wide areas of improvement. The specialist partners closely with the Senior Manager, Internal Communications and Employee Engagement, and wider Corporate Affairs team as well as the People Directorate, Senior Leaders and colleagues to transform insights into impactful engagement initiatives that align with business goals. This role is ultimately aiming to drive up our SLC Colleague Engagement Index and contributes to SLC being a great place to work.
As an Employee Engagement Specialist your main responsibilities will be to:
- Collect, analyse and interpret employee feedback, working with our engagement platform supplier and Data and People teams to deliver an annual cycle of employee surveys.
- Using the qualitative and quantitative employee survey data and leveraging other available insights, identify drivers of employee engagement.
- Devise actionable corporate engagement plans, helping deliver meaningful activity which ultimately drives an improvement in colleague engagement in line with our Government-agreed targets.
- Work with senior leaders, key internal stakeholders and colleague working groups to help them develop more targeted, local action plans which complement the work at an organisation-wide level and contribute to an overall improvement in engagement scores.
- Work with the Corporate Affairs, People and directorate leadership teams to ensure alignment between corporate engagement such as in-office events, senior leader visibility and focus groups, and directorate engagement opportunities like Q&A sessions and townhalls.
- On a quarterly basis, prepare high-quality, accurate insights to be presented to senior leaders on levels of engagement, progress and impact of activity using the appropriate governance structure.
- Collaborate with Data Centre of Excellence and People teams to produce reports which align engagement data with broader workforce analytics, thus providing a complete picture of colleague data that helps SLC evaluate the impact of engagement and other activity.
- Lead on delivery of our colleague recognition awards, working with colleagues across Corporate Affairs on design, communication and logistics. Post-event, use feedback to build on the success of the annual awards process and delivery.
Essential:
- Skilled in collecting and interpreting employee sentiment data to help SLC generate actionable insights.
- Ability to evaluate the impact of engagement initiatives and adapt plans where necessary.
- Experience working with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to help them drive increased engagement initiatives.
- Understanding of frameworks, trends and best practices in employee engagement.
- Ability to understand operating context and help SLC create engagement plans aligned with wider business objectives.
- Ability to organise and run successful events and manage networks.
Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
