Description & Requirements

On behalf of UKSBS, we are looking for a People Specialist (Employee Relations Advisor) - (Inside IR35 for a 3-month contract working on a hybrid basis and with an expectation of 1 days per week attendance in the Swindon office


As a People Specialist (Employee Relations Advisor)  your main responsibilities will be:

  • Management and coordination of employee relation activity, provide appropriate advice and guidance to managers to assist in resolving people issues in a timely manner.
  • Subject matter expert in all areas of HR policy and procedure, and confident in its application within investigation meetings, disciplinary and grievance hearings. Ensuring legalisation, policy and ACAS best practice are followed.
  • Working collaboratively with managers from all levels of coaching and guiding on performance management, absence, disciplinary and grievance.
  • Responsible for assessing whether an employee needs to be referred to Occupational Health, facilitation of the referral and coaching and supporting both the business and employee in relation to the recommendations.
  • Administration and coordination of casework records and tracker
  • Support and undertake policy review adapting HR best practice for UK SBS to ensure policies and practices are fit for purpose, comply with employment law and are successfully implemented by the Business.
  • Identify where guidance is required to support or in place of company policy, responsible for drafting and ensuring fit for purpose and implementation within the business.
  • Work in partnership with the senior management team with regard to the people’s agenda, working to achieve business objectives


Essential:

  • Extensive experience managing ER casework, including disciplinaries, grievances, and sickness/absence issues.
  • Strong ability to interpret, apply, and advise on HR policies, employment law, and best practice compliance.
  • Proven track record in coaching and supporting managers and producing clear ER guidance and supporting materials.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship building skills, including with trade unions.
  • Highly adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities with strict confidentiality; requires only UKSBS specific training.


Desirable:

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification
  • Ability to create, review, and implement HR policies that are compliant with employment law and best practices.
  • Experience in assessing the need for Occupational Health referrals and supporting the implementation of recommendations.
