On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Technical Delivery Manager (Inside IR35) for a 6 Month Hybrid contract based 1 day per week in London or Swindon.
The Organisation
Operating across the whole of the UK with a combined budget of more than £6BN, UK Research and Innovation is a new entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a considerable voice for research and innovation, and a vision to ensure the UK maintains its world-leading position in research and innovation. UKRI will build on the successful elements from the current funding system and maximise the contribution of each of the component parts to create the best environment for research and innovation to flourish.
The Project
An eighteen month (at least) project to transform grant funding within UKRI. Activities will be aligned with the improving the user experience (internal and external) so that manual workarounds can be removed, and consistent processes and procedures are adopted.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
· Take ownership and responsibility of the Programme Backlog, working with Business Analysts, Product Owners and Solution Architects to define business processes leading any recommendations through the Business Design Authority prioritisation.
· Once prioritised, reflect any changes to the Programme Backlog in Jira / Confluence.
· Drive adoption of industry best practice agile delivery, designing and implementing the programme agile delivery structure.
· Facilitate coordination across all programme Agile teams, ensuring dependencies are identified and managed.
· Act as a bridge between stakeholders, Programme Leadership, and Agile teams.
· Monitor programme progress, resolving challenges, and escalating risks as needed.
· Ensure milestones, timelines, and deliverables align with organisational priorities.
· Foster collaboration, accountability, and value-driven outcomes
Experience
· Demonstratable experience of being very hands on within similar Business Transformation projects and programmes
· Strong experience of collaborating with and influencing business analysts, solution architects and product owners to get the desired outcomes.
· Management and delivery of plans to ensure all necessary preparation and execution tasks and dependencies are included.
· Ongoing management of those plans to achieve the delivery goals.
· Work with key stakeholders to manage the deployment of all aspects of the project assigned to Identify and mitigate potential risks for delivery of products.
· Operate as a full member of the team; supporting the Programme Manager and other team members as directed.
· Project Manage all aspects of specific work packages.
· Management of a detailed Jira plan for the medium term, including resources; costs.
· Development of stakeholder relationship with suppliers; including preparation of joint plans; proposals and any design and build documentation.
· Completion of the high level plan through to Go Live and BAU handover.
· Experience in the delivery of projects; with particular emphasis on the management of suppliers and stakeholders
· Experience of governance and risk control frameworks. Good planning and organisational skills Strong leadership; people and communications skills.
· Possess strong analytical skills with a proven ability to persuade and influence senior decision-making.
Skills
· Hands on, able to direct as well as progress activities themselves.
· Creating and managing standard project documentation
· Set up and manage project boards and team
· Manage and report on project budget
· Directing the recruitment of team member(s)
· Produce and manage delivery plan
· Document and present stakeholder updates
· Supplier management, engage with and manage 3rd parties as required
Qualifications
· Ideally SAFe /Agile PM certified
· Experience of The Government Functional Project Delivery Standard an advantage
· Management and delivery of transformation and data integration
