On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Solution Architect (Inside IR35) for a 10 Month contract based REMOTELY with occasional visits to Swindon.

As a Solution Architect, your main responsibilities will be:
- Ensure that DDG projects adhere to DDaT architecture principles, standards and patterns at the enterprise- / macro-level.
- Support the development of investment cases for DDG projects and follow through into the design and delivery so that they can be managed through live by Data Services.
- Act as lead architect on the DDH team advising on overall solutions to ensure any issues are uncovered and resolved quickly.
- Work closely with solution architects in the DDG and other programmes to ensure that they are implementing solutions in keeping with the agreed design intent and adhering to TDA requirements.
- Own the Enterprise Scope / Solution Overview / High Level Design documentation so that it can be approved by UKRI Technical Design Authority (TDA).
- Responsible for keeping it up to date throughout the lifecycle and attending the UKRI TDA with any changes as necessary.
- Develop the Solution Roadmap to show how the solution will be further enhanced after minimum-viable product and through to retirement. Look forwards to identify common needs, and gaps and work with the wider programme teams to influence the technology roadmaps and necessary components.
- Creation of appropriate formal architecture products for (amongst other activities) product selection, options and impact assessment to validate or solution choices, enable traceability and provide corporate knowledge for ongoing support efforts.
- Work with commercial colleagues to provide input to tender materials and conduct supplier and product evaluation. Commission the Solution Architecture overview documentation and any roadmaps for DDG and ensure it is kept up to date throughout its lifecycle and attending the UKRI Technology Governance with any changes as necessary.
You will have proven and substantial experience in:
- Defining requirements in an agile development framework based upon user needs, from vision, through epics to user stories and tasks.
- Identifying opportunities for service and business improvement, pinpointing opportunities to allow organisations like UKRI to perform more effectively.
- Writing business cases justifying investment in digital spend, ideally having participated in a GDS spend approval process. Specifying requirements from both a business and user perspective to enable agreed changes to be implemented effectively.
- Been an architect on an agile programme that used enterprise scale cloud computing platform. TOGAF, SAFe or agile architecture qualification
