Description & Requirements

On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Data Engineer (Inside IR35) for a 10 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (travel once per quarter onsite - Swindon).

As a Data Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Develop, maintain and support ETL/ELT pipelines in a cloud-based environment.
  • Development and testing of code within the data infrastructure environment.
  • Ensure that appropriate data quality, integrity and alerting is built into all solutions.
  • Collaborate with business subject matter experts to understand the organisation’s essential data requirements and to manage the organisation’s data assets.
  • Assessment and evaluation of data/system changes that may impact data performance, models or reports and recommend amendments if required.
  • Support development of processes to ensure standards and procedures are correctly applied.
  • Take responsibility for the quality of work delivered.


Essential:

  • Extensive ETL/ELT development experience, including pipeline design, development, and implementation (preferably with Talend Data Fabric).
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL with the ability to query across MySQL and SQL Server databases.
  • Proficiency in Cloud based platforms (AWS experience preferred). 
  • Experience in relational database design, including physical, canonical and logical modelling. 
  • Familiarity with various software development tools, methods and technologies. 
  • Coding experience in SQL, and exposure to Java and/or Python.


Desirable:

  • Experience with the Talend Data Quality framework and other ETL tools.
  • Exposure to other commercial SQL-based platforms, such as Oracle or SQL Server.
