On behalf of UKRI, we are looking for a Finance Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 6 month hybrid contract based in Swindon
The successful candidate will have an expectation for x2 days per week in the office and the remainder will be working from home.

As a Finance Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:
- Build and manage strong relationships with internal stakeholders and finance teams
- Influence and collaborate across functions to enable effective financial decision-making
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment
- Handle complex challenges, escalating where appropriate
- Deliver UKRI-commissioned processes accurately and on time
- Act as a role model within the finance team, promoting high performance and collaboration
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality
- Deputise for senior colleagues as required
- Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic decisions across ESRC & AHRC
- Translate DSIT and UKRI priorities into budgets and long-term financial planning
- Strengthen insight into financial risk, volatility, and scenario planning
- Convert reporting outputs into accurate forecasts and forward-looking analysis
- Partner with Management Reporting and Finance Business teams to improve data quality and structure
- Design streamlined, scalable financial models during system integration
- Support harmonisation of finance processes across multiple councils
- Drive standardised approaches to improve team consistency and resilience
- Integrate data from multiple sources into unified, decision-ready models
Essential:
- Advanced Excel skills (financial modelling, data manipulation)
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret and translate complex financial data
- Experience combining finance knowledge with data analysis and insight generation
- Ability to build user-friendly, practical financial models and tools
- Highly personable, with the ability to work closely within a collaborative team
- Self-motivated and able to work independently while taking direction
- Strong team player with a proactive, supportive approach
- Trusted and reliable, with strong ownership of deliverables
- Approachable stakeholder style, similar to a Finance Business Partner
- Able to bridge the gap between data, finance, and business stakeholders
