On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Financial Planning Analysis Manager for a 12 month contract. This is a hybrid working role (three days per week office based - London).

Job Purpose
To lead the business’ provision for region / route analysis of financial, benchmark and performance information, to provide guidance and direction for future strategy and business direction. To develop plans and models that highlight opportunities for improvement in both financial and non-financial areas and create models that support the longer-term business and economic planning horizon. Lead the production of all region / route reports.
As a Financial Planning Analysis Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Lead a programme of analysis to highlight areas of financial/process/performance improvement in support of the business’ objectives for the Control Period and to support the development of long term strategic plans.
- Develop periodic reporting regimes to provide appropriate financial information in support of the requirements of the region / route, wider NR and stakeholders (including ORR and DfT).
- Liaise internally across the region / route to set up analysis and reporting regimes required as necessary.
- Provide investment analysis that supports the region / route in making informed decisions during the investment life cycle.
- Monitor and analyse business performance against objectives identifying risks and opportunities and other issues and corrective action required if necessary.
- Produce critiques of reporting unit results to support the Management Business Reviews highlighting areas of potential inefficiency and efficiency savings.
- Lead the provision of a flexible analyst team, providing high priority analytical support to senior directors and managers as required.
- Lead the professional development of all analysts working across the region / route providing a consistent framework for business analysis and reporting.
- Produce ad hoc reports on emerging issues.
Essential:
- Full membership of a relevant professional body
- Demonstrable experience in a relevant financial or business discipline
- Relevant post qualification experience
- Excellent financial analytical and modelling experience with investment appraisal techniques
- Experience advising and collaborating with senior staff at Director and Board level.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (or equivalent spreadsheet package) and analytical skills to critically analyse large data
- Engaging, relevant and adaptable communication and presentation skills,
- Demonstrates good team behaviours and adherence to work place ethics
Desirable:
- Experience of working in a matrix management organisation
- Other relevant professional or academic qualifications
- Experience in leading business analysis and reporting within a large organisation
