On behalf of DESNZ, we are looking for a Contract Manager x 2 - (INSIDE IR35) for a 4-month contract working on a remote basis

Brief Overview:
The postholder will lead the operational integration of contract management across performance, finance, risk and governance, producing analysis and insight that supports evidence-based decisions across the NZBI’s portfolio of gold and silver contracts.
The postholder will ensure contract management tools and reporting are maintained to a high standard and that compliance, transparency and audit readiness are built into day-to-day operations, contributing to the ongoing development of the contract management hub.
This is an opportunity to develop strong contract management capability within a growing function and contribute to building a recognised contract management profession within DESNZ.
As a Contract Manager x 2 - (INSIDE IR35), your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead performance information management: interpret KPI and performance data, identify trends and emerging risks, and produce concise narrative that supports governance decisions.
- Lead financial oversight support by maintaining forecast vs actual analysis, assure invoice validation evidence, performance-linked payments and prepare financial summaries for contract governance forums.
- Support compliance with Procurement Act 2023 post-award expectations (e.g., KPI reporting inputs, transparency data sets, payment performance inputs) as directed by the Contract Manager.
- Manage change control operations by drafting Contract Change Notices (CCNs), maintain marked-up contract versions, and support impact assessment (cost, time, risk, performance).
- Maintain and continuously improve the Contract Management Plans (CMP) as the 'operating guides' for the contracts, ensuring it reflects practice and supports continuity.
- Support mobilisation and exit planning: maintain readiness checklists, track dependencies and milestones, and support handover and transition activities.
- Lead assurance and audit readiness, ensuring record-keeping standards are met, evidence is retrievable, and governance decisions and actions are documented.
- Support supplier and stakeholder engagement by preparing briefings, decision packs and action trackers; deputise for G7 discussions as appropriate to the role.
- Line Management and Leadership
To be considered for this role, please ensure your CV evidences the following essential criteria.
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in operational contract management, ideally within professional services environments, including responsibility for medium to high-value contracts and supplier performance management.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify trends, evaluate risks, and support effective decision-making.
- Experience of reviewing, analysing and interrogating financial information, including budgets, expenditure, forecasts and contract-related financial data to ensure value for money and informed business decisions.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, coordinate multiple activities simultaneously, and deliver high-quality outcomes within agreed timescales.
