Description & Requirements

On behalf of NHS Business Services Authority, we are looking for a Project Director (Inside IR35) for an 11-month contract. This is a remote working role.

Job Purpose:


Responsible for direction and leadership of the Transforming Dental Systems project and related change initiatives within NHSBSA, a major project with high level of complexity, providing leadership support to the SRO and Project Executives within the NHS Primary Care Services portfolio.


As a Project Director, your main responsibilities will be to:


  • Provide professional direction, project delivery SME knowledge and project discipline and leadership to SROs, Project Executives, Suppliers and users within the business areas.
  • Build and develop a strong delivery-focused culture, driving to meet project milestones and maintain the projects on the critical path.
  • Provide senior project delivery leadership within the Dental Services department (as key priority) and overarching Primary Care Services change portfolio, driving coordinated delivery of the individual projects, increasing resilience and leadership and identifying and resolving any additional capability gaps
  • Collaborate with the Primary Care Services SROs, Project Executives and Suppliers to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of committed change
  • Engage and collaborate with NHSBSA Senior Leadership Team, Portfolio Management Directorate Senior Management Team, DHSC Dental Policy, commercial and finance teams and all other identified stakeholders as the senior representation for the Buyer project delivery team
  • Effective functional management of the project teams team working within the Dental Services and Primary Care sub-portfolio, and potential matrix management of other PMD professionals as required, linking with line managers as needed.
  • Review of medium-long term resource need, to include development and approval of any additional permanent roles required to ensure continued stability in the allocated programmes and projects.
