On behalf of The Department for Transport, we are looking for a Electrical Engineer (Test Engineer On track testing/Certification Engineer) (InsideIR35) for a 5 month contract based Nuneaton

As a  Electrical Engineer (Test Engineer On track testing/Certification Engineer), your main responsibilities will be:


Carrying out vehicle system safety testing for vehicles fitted with ADAS and Automated Driving Systems. Working from the technical specification of the vehicle to be tested; Select the tests that need to be carried out. Select and configure the appropriate test equipment and facilities. Prepare the test vehicle with all necessary test equipment. Carry out the tests and report results.


Carry out or witness tests and component/vehicle specification inspections to the requirements of EU, UNECE, National Type Approval (GB) and other technical standards.

Carry out engineering assessments in lieu of tests as necessary.

Manage and complete approval documentation for each test or assessment and to enter necessary data onto computer job records, including preparation of test reports and draft approval certificates.

•Attend worst case meetings and variant selection meetings with manufacturers and to record the outcomes.

•Complete and assist with Facility Appraisals, where applicable.

•Develop and maintain expert technical knowledge in vehicle systems, components, and associated technology.

•Assist the Regulatory & Technology Group (RTG) with technical knowledge.

•Develop and improve VCA procedures for specific customers, in agreement with VCA customer client manager.

•Answer queries from manufacturers, agencies, and others.

•Follow VCA procedures and quality requirements.


Essential:

•Working in an engineering capacity, following procedures and understanding regulations or standards.

Analysing data or documents and reporting on findings.

•Delivering outcomes on time and to a high standard.




Qualifications.

•Qualification in an engineering or technical discipline equivalent to Bachelor’s degree, including Honours and Foundation degree and Diplomas of Higher Education. NQF level 5 and 6; or equivalent experience.
