Description & Requirements

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Finance Manager for a 12 Month Contract. (Inside IR35)

Hybrid - 2 days per week in Newcastle & the remainder WFH.


The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. As such, we operate on a scale that is almost unmatched anywhere in Europe and most people in Britain come into contact with us at some point in their lives.


As a Finance Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Iterate and continuously improve financial modelling across RBC, support with understanding and resolving issues within the model
  • Assess and ensure financial model and processes operate optimally and efficiently across RBC.
  • Monitor and manage all expenditure across RBC cost centres and services, accurately tracking and allocating expenditure across service lines.
  • Work collaboratively with Delivery Leads to provide robust individual monthly forecasts building into the overall RBC forecast
  • Support and challenge Delivery Leads to ensure finances are accurate, reasonable and achievable, developing a clear understanding of the bottom up modelling between forecasted costs
  • Undertake detailed analysis on monthly variances, providing MI and narrative to RBC and central stakeholders.
  • Review and analyse monthly accounts for RBC, working with partners to resolve cost queries
  • Work with Delivery Leads to link finances and cost model to deliverables.
  • Collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders involved within financial management across RBC
  • Work closely with RBC finance colleagues to ensure finance model and commercials landscape remain fully aligned, and any changes are clearly communicated / audit trailed.
