Description & Requirements

On behalf of the Cabinet Office, we are looking for Data Product Managers (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract based Remote with occasional travel (up to 2 days/month) to our Newcastle office.

The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) is responsible for delivering a compensation scheme that has been long awaited by the infected blood community to provide financial compensation to victims of infected blood on a UK-wide basis.

We're looking for skilled and passionate Data Product Managers to lead the development of our data products. In this role, you will be the bridge between our business goals, customer needs, and technical execution.

Our data products will provide a single source of the truth for those going through their compensation journey, and IBCA as an organisation.

We are taking a product-centric approach treating data as a product and are building squads around our products, with a focus on paying compensation to those impacted by the infected blood scandal seamlessly.

Working at IBCA gives you a huge opportunity to make an impact on those who deserve compensation, and this role suits a candidate who can spearhead solutions from the ground up to take from ideation to reality so that data is an enabler to everything IBCA does.

As a Data Product Manager your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and iteration, ensuring our data products deliver significant value to our users and the business.
  • Strategy and Vision: Define and champion the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for our data products.
  • Product Definition: Translate complex data and business requirements into clear, actionable user stories, epics, and product specifications.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner closely with architecture, engineering, analytics & data science, data security, data governance, operations and digital service teams to ensure alignment and successful product delivery.
  • Execution: Manage the product backlog, prioritise features based on business value, and lead agile development ceremonies.
  • Performance Analysis: Define, track, and analyse key product metrics to measure success, inform product decisions, and identify areas for improvement.

Essential:

  • 3+ years of experience in data product management, with a strong focus on data products, data platforms, and analytics that process sensitive personal information.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, agile environment and embracing iterative development methodologies.
  • A solid understanding of all aspects relating to data management and the data lifecycle.
  • Expert knowledge of data product management principles, with the ability to demonstrate how data capabilities create service-level value for digital services.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills to set clear direction and champion data products. The ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders is essential.
  • Experience in defining clear product goals that align with business strategy, supported by measurable objectives, while prioritising data quality, governance, and security.
  • Proven ability to lead teams through periods of change, defining and solving complex problems, make data-driven decisions, and managing trade offs to setting clear goals and priorities that align with both organisational and service-level outcomes.

Desirable:

  • Hands-on experience in one of the following data roles - data architecture, data engineering, data governance, information & cyber security, data analytics and data science.
  • Experience with platforms such as Databricks or Quantexa is advantageous.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas.
