On behalf of IBCA, we are looking for a Lead Solution Architect (Inside IR35) for a 6 Month contract based Hybrid in Newcastle.
The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) is a new arm’s-length body which is being set up, at unprecedented pace, to administer compensation to people whose lives have been impacted by the infected blood scandal.

The multidisciplinary teams within IBCA’s Digital Service Directorate are organised around delivering our mission and priorities:
• To create a user-centred, empathetic end-to-end service at the heart of IBCA.
• To provide the means of paying compensation to those eligible.
• To iterate our service through starting small and scaling fast, through a test and learn approach.

Joining IBCA early in the service lifecycle allows the Lead Solution Architect to influence tech decisions, build capability, and realise their architectural strategy.
As a Lead Solution Architect, your main responsibilities will be:
- Collaborate and find agreement with senior stakeholders, providing both technical and non-technical direction and challenge.
- Look for opportunities to build and reuse common components, communicating with both technical and non-technical people.
- Undertake structured evaluation of technical concepts, translating this into technical designs that describe a solution.
- Assure service and system quality, ensuring the technical work fits into the broader strategy for IBCA, including representing architecture at appropriate governance forums.
- Own the architecture blueprint for the IBCA service.
- Build architecture capability and lead the community of practice.
Essential:
- Proven experience in a technical or solution architecture role, leading the technical design of large and complex systems and services.
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to jointly develop technical designs which deliver outcomes aligned with business needs and in an iterative way.
