Description & Requirements


On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior Business Analyst (Inside IR35) for a 12 month contract which is a hybrid role so requires up to 3 days a week in the nearest DWP Hub - Manchester, Birmingham, Blackpool, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Glasgow or Pontypridd


The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. As such, we operate on a scale that is almost unmatched anywhere in Europe and most people in Britain come into contact with us at some point in their lives.


As a Senior Business Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:


  • Manage stakeholder relationships at all levels across the business
  • Work independently and collaboratively in fast paced environment
  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to communicate proposed changes and gather feedback
  • Provide user training to business stakeholders to ensure smooth adoption of new process and systems
  • Develop the business analysis community by sharing best practice and mentoring others
  • Use business process modelling tools such as BPMN or Visio and wireframes tools such as Balsamiq


Essential Skills


  • Experience as a senior business analyst within a busy central government department
  • Work with limited direction to identify opportunities to improve business performance within a defined project
  • Ability to apply structured approaches to identify, investigate, analyse and communicate complex business problems and opportunities, within a defined project
  • Evaluate business goals, objectives, functions and processes, using relevant information and data to support the definition of requirements
  • Ability to identify business scenarios and develop acceptance criteria to ensure requirements can be traced to develop functionality
  • Proficient across Agile, Waterfall and JIRA applications
