Description & Requirements


On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer for a 6 Months (Inside IR35) contract based Hybrid/ in Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Blackpool.


SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.


The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As a Senior Network Infrastructure Engineer, your main responsibilities will be:


  • As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality Infrastructure products.
  • Designing and implementing Infrastructure services with a focus on equitable collaboration in line with Architecture and Engineering principles.
  • Working in collaboration with a range of internal/external partners, stakeholders and customers you will ensure the operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability, and quality of DWP Networks.
  • You will actively manage the work backlog and develop reliability improvements as well as leading initiatives to develop the automation of low-value tasks balanced against project delivery demands.
  • Encouraging diverse contributions from team members to deliver effective and reliable solutions.


Essential:


  • Proficiency in VXLAN overlay technology, EVPN, multi-site fabric architectures, and VRF segmentation. Familiarity with Arista technologies is desirable.
  • Expertise in configuring, designing, and maintaining NGFWs, particularly with Panorama and Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • A solid understanding of public cloud solutions such as AWS, Azure, and OCI.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity and equity in team collaboration and solution design.
  • An awareness of how diversity strengthens teams and drives innovation in technology and infrastructure.


Desirable:


  • Certifications such as PCNSE, CCNP, Arista ACE or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
