Description & Requirements

On behalf of MHCLG, we are looking for a Finance Administrator (Inside IR35) for a 3 month contract based in Manchester or Hemel Hempstead 2 days per week.office attendance


The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) is a department dedicated to changing and improving lives in the UK. We support local governments and empower communities, by delivering safe, secure homes that people need. To make sure we deliver, we sponsor 14 arm’s length bodies, including Homes England, the Planning Inspectorate and HM Land Registry, which are critical to our mission.


Provide high quality financial operational support across a range of finance activities, ensuring accurate processing, strong financial control, and timely information to support effective management of public funds. The role holder will undertake a variety of finance tasks, working flexibly across the Finance Operations team to meet business priorities.


As a Finance Administrator your main responsibilities will be:


  • Process financial transactions accurately and promptly, including:
  • Purchase orders, invoices, and payments
  • Journals and adjustments
  • Maintaining master data (suppliers etc)
  • Ensure compliance with processes, financial controls, and relevant policies.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in line with audit and assurance requirements.
  • Respond to finance related queries from colleagues and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support reconciliation processes to ensure data accuracy across systems.
  • Assist with maintaining and improving finance processes and guidance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of finance operations, including identifying inefficiencies and suggesting solutions.
  • Work flexibly across the team to support peaks in workload.
  • Share knowledge and support less experienced colleagues where appropriate.


Essential:


  • Experience working in a finance or finance operations environment.
  • Financial processing and controls
  • Maintaining supplier banking information
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good numerical and analytical skills.
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office and other standard office tools.
  • Organised and reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility for public money.
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Willing to adapt to changing priorities and undertake a range of tasks.
  • Comfortable asking questions and escalating issues appropriately.


Desirable:


  • Part qualified or studying towards a finance qualification (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience using financial systems (e.g. ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, or equivalent)
