Description & Requirements

On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Digital DevOps Engineer for a 12 month (Inside IR35) contract. Hybrid working with 3 days per week required in either Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, or Sheffield.


We are looking for a highly skilled Digital DevOps Engineer to play a key role in building and supporting modern cloud platforms that power critical citizen-facing applications. This role involves working across strategic and support teams to design and deliver future-ready solutions, drive automation and consolidate complex systems into unified platforms. You’ll be part of an agile, collaborative environment where high standards of technical excellence, problem-solving and innovation are central to success.


As a Digital DevOps Engineer your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute to the development, maintenance and migration of infrastructure and platform-as-a-service environments hosting critical citizen-facing applications.
  • Rotate across strategic and support teams: Strategic teams will be building solutions for the future and support teams will be changing the existing to move towards strategic solutions.
  • Work within Agile delivery frameworks, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Take on the challenge of consolidating various solutions into a strategic solution.
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, documentation and operational excellence.


Essential:

  • Extensive experience in designing, building and maintaining Linux workloads across multiple environments on a cloud platform such as AWS.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing best practices using IaC tools such as Terraform and automating legacy applications with scripting languages such as shell scripts, python.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing best practices using CaC tools such as Ansible.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Gitlab, GitHub, Jenkins.
  • Extensive experience in building, deploying and securing containers using various strategies across multiple environments.
  • Extensive experience in designing, implementing, testing with databases such as Mongo Atlas.
  • Experienced in problem solving and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Experience using log management and aggregation tools such as Splunk.
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve severity incidents.
