On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for a Workforce Planning Manager - (Inside IR35) for a 6 month contract working 5 days on site in London office.

Information and Digital Directorate

Information and Digital Directorate (IDD) is responsible for delivering the Foreign Secretary’s ambition to make the FCDO the most technologically integrated and innovative foreign ministry globally. This means harnessing digital, data, technology, IT security and information management to support the FCDO and UK Government partners on our platform to deliver our diplomatic, development and consular aims. All while keeping our people and information safe, especially from hostile actors.

 

The work we do is varied – from historical analysis and library services to cyber protection, from information rights to global network management, from supporting staff in using the latest Microsoft toolsets, to creating corporate applications, harnessing AI and much more in line with the FCDO Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Strategy.

 

The Directorate is made up of a wide range of talented staff and experts including specialist, contractors, home civil servants and diplomats who have served overseas.

 

SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks.  Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.

 

The main duties and responsibilities of the Workforce Planning Manager would be to:

  • Develop, implement and monitor the delivery of the Workforce Planning strategy. 
  • Conduct analysis on current workforce capability and develop required plan to meet policy and financial requirements. 
  • Advise and guide the RSO Director, Senior Leadership Team and other senior staff on people related matters and support production of required reporting documents for Government submissions. 
  • Build strong relationships with FCDO HR and other organizational counterparts to shape and influence people related matters to protect the interests of RSO staff as well as resolving issues quickly. 
  • Develop and implement an efficient, effective recruitment, onboarding and induction programme. 
  • Lead on people engagement activities and strategies including the ongoing development of high performing teams and individuals. 
  • Lead and develop a team of operational colleagues that will directly drive the Workforce Planning requirements and implementation. 

 

Essential:

  • Proven experience of developing and implementing workforce planning strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge, skills and experience in successfully leading and delivering a range of people related initiatives. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to explain complex information in a clear and concise way to a variety of audiences. 
  • A key influencer and contributor, you will be insightful, with a passion for delivery of a professional service that meets and contributes to the strategy of the organisation.
  • As a senior manager you will be highly visible, quickly building trust and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues across RSO, FCDO and Cabinet Office.
  • Experience of leading operational teams to deliver at pace whilst maintaining a focus on development of a quality service. Desirable
  • Knowledge of business planning processes and alignment with strategic objectives
  • Experience of working in an IT Service Environment
  • Understanding of working across Government and public service 
  • Strong track record in coaching and people development Professional Qualifications 
  • CIPD qualification in related discipline
